People's Pact for the Future
Drafts open for initial review
through 1 April 2024
Dan Perell of C4UN (and BIC and IEF) is calling for chapter by chapter comments on the working draft of the People's Pact for the Future intended to present civil society priorities to the UN Summit of the Future in September, in complement to the Pact for the Future being negotiated by governments. He has posted the chapters online at the links below:
- Chapeau
- Chapter 1: Sustainable development and financing for development
- Chapter 2: International Peace and Security
- Chapter 3: Science, technology and innovation and digital cooperation
- Chapter 4: Youth and Future Generations
- Chapter 5: Transforming global governance
For chapter 3, the drafters have been Arthur Dahl of IEF and Soon-Young Yoon, UN representative for the International Alliance of Women. In addition to the short text and three recommendations intended for the People's Pact itself, they have compiled the background and many other recommendations into a Policy Brief for Chapter 3, available on this website.
Substantive comments on the chapters should be posted through 1 April, after which they will be edited and another draft circulated for comment.
