WHY MEGA?

The world faces a deepening planetary emergency having already over-stepped six of the nine scientifically-identified Planetary Boundaries. Global environmental governance is essential to transcend narrow national interests and protect earth’s ecosystems for current and future generations.

MEGA (Mobilizing an Earth Governance Alliance) is a coalition of civil society organizations working in cooperation with like-minded governments, legislators, experts, private sector actors and others to strengthen global environmental governance and ensure that it is “fit for purpose” in the face of the planetary crisis.

INSPIRATION

MEGA is inspired and guided by Governing our Planetary Emergency, the 2023 Report of the Climate Governance Commission (CGC). Many of the global governance proposals and campaigns highlighted on the MEGA website are explored in more detail in the CGC Report. MEGA is managed by Citizens for Global Solutions, the Climate Governance Commission and World Federalist Movement – Institute for Global Policy. 23 organizations are co-sponsors, including the Bahá'í International Community and IEF.
